William 'Billy' Korpela died peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006 at his home in Duluth. He was born May 12, 1947. Billy was a graduate of Central High School and lived in Duluth. Billy worked for St. Luke's Hospital in the laundry department since 1967. Billy considered everyone at St. Luke's his family giving over 37 years of his life to the hospital. Billy was named St. Luke's Employee of the Year in 2005 for outstanding service to the community. Billy also claimed to have never called in sick in all 37 years of his employment. He was always there for the patients and his co-w orkers. He was known throughout the hospital for his extensive knowledge of current events. Billy was preceded in death by his loving mother, Marie and father, William. MEMORIAL SERVICE:3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the United Baptist Christian Church, 830 East First St. Duluth.
