John Michael Anderson, 73, passed away July 16, 2021, with his loving wife of 50 years by his side, after a long battle with cancer.
John was born February 29, 1948, in Duluth, MN. He grew up in the central hillside and remained in Duluth most of his life; spending his last few years in Brownsville, TX. John served in the Army reserves then soon after started working at Barko Hydraulics where his love for the industry began. John married Sharon Ann White on June 24, 1971. They had an adventurous fifty years together.
In the late 70’s he ventured off to start his own manufacturing business in Two Harbors, MN. This company was his pride and joy and he poured his heart and soul into making it a success. The employees he counted as family and he treasured his partners, Bruce Pierce and Bob Madison.
John made it a priority to bring donuts to his grandkids every Saturday morning. He loved each of them dearly and was so proud of them. John loved fishing on Lake Superior with his family for many years. Mud racing with his girls and watching Nascar were his favorite pastimes. John was generous, ambitious, stubborn, and trusting beyond measure. He also had a special love for animals of all kinds. Anyone who knew John was blessed to be a part of his unique adventures. He was a born leader and this was evident in anything he was passionate about. John made a lasting impact in Brownsville, TX, where he semi-retired after his cancer diagnosis. He created a beautiful park for his Texas friends, and was the “go-to” for golf-cart repairs, and gave opportunities as well as friendship to anyone he met.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Geane Anderson, step-father Helge Anderson, brother Steven Anderson, and son-in-law/best friend, Andy McCubbin.
John will be greatly missed by his wife, Sharon, daughters Stephanie (Steve), Tricia (Jason), and grandchildren, Alexis, Paige, Sarah, Elianna, Jared, Abbey, and Ethan, and dog/partner-in-crime Millie.
VISITATION: 12 p.m. until the 1 p.m. memorial service Friday, July 30, at The Vineyard Church, 1533 W. Arrowhead Road, Duluth.
